In short
What can you expect from PHN’s SEO?
- What it is: organic rankings on Google and citations in AI answers.
- How: a sound technical structure, content under a named author’s byline, and local SEO.
- Timeline: months of work, with no ranking promised.
PHN’s SEO is organic ranking work for B2B companies, on Google and in the answers of AI tools such as ChatGPT and Gemini. It combines the website’s technical structure, bylined content, and local SEO, with a monthly report on rankings, clicks, and inquiries.
Why SEO
Why do B2B buyers do their research before they reach out?
Because the purchase is expensive, and whoever makes the decision wants to walk into the meeting knowing who they are dealing with. A 2017 Gartner survey of 750 B2B buyers found that buyers spend only about 17% of the buying process meeting with potential suppliers. The rest is research.
That changes the job of your website. The buyer researches the service, reads comparisons, checks who wrote the content, and asks ChatGPT which companies serve their industry. By the time they reach your form, they already have a short list. If your company doesn’t show up in those searches, it doesn’t make the list, no matter how warmly a referral recommends it.
SEO works to put your company on that research path: pages that answer the buyer’s questions, with a named author and a photo of that author, data with sources, and a technical structure that Google and AI tools can read. It is an investment that takes time to mature, and it can keep bringing in inquiries after paid media stops, for as long as the page keeps ranking.
That is why PHN treats SEO as a company asset: the content, the domain, and the history stay with you, even if the contract ends.
No myths
What is SEO, and what isn’t it?
What SEO isn’t
Buying links, writing for robots, promising the first page, or a trick that works until Google’s next update.
What SEO is
A technically clean website, pages that answer the buyer’s real questions, clear authorship, and a consistent local presence.
The honest timeline
The first signals appear within weeks, rankings for commercial pages mature over months, and no serious professional promises a date. PHN shows the progress in the monthly report.
Areas of work
What does the SEO work cover?
Technical SEO
Speed, indexing, the sitemap, structured data, and fixing whatever keeps Google from reading the site.
Content
Service pages and articles that answer the buyer’s questions, written under a named expert’s byline, with sources and dates.
Local SEO and AI
Your Google Business Profile, a consistent name, address, and phone number everywhere, and copy written to be cited by AI tools.
Part of the system
How does SEO work together with Google Ads and the website?
Google Ads shows within weeks which searches bring in contracts, and SEO uses that data to decide which pages to write. The website has to be built ready for SEO, and consulting decides beforehand which buyer the pages are written for.
Working this way solves the most common SEO problem for service businesses: writing a lot about things few people buy. Without Google Ads data, the content plan comes from search-volume tools, which favor broad, informational terms.
With that data, the content plan starts from the searches that have already brought in inquiries and contracts through paid media, and SEO works to win those same searches with no cost per click. It works the other way too: when an organic page reaches the top positions, the ad budget for that search can move somewhere else.
The website is the technical foundation, because a slow or poorly structured page won’t rank, however good the writing is. Consulting sets the tone, the buyer, and what each page has to prove. Companies that want all three under one accountable person hire integrated digital marketing.
Process
What does the SEO process look like at PHN?
Audit
A technical and content audit, starting from what the site already ranks for in Search Console.
Keyword map
Searches with buying intent, grouped by page, so no two pages compete for the same search.
Technical fixes
Whatever is holding back indexing, speed, and structured data.
Content
Pages and articles written for the buyer, under a named expert’s byline.
Tracking
Rankings, clicks, and inquiries every month, with the plan adjusted as needed.
Fit
Who should invest in SEO now?
Companies that sell a service buyers research, and that can give SEO at least a few months. If you need inquiries this month, Google Ads comes first, and SEO starts alongside it.
The most common question
“If I stop paying for ads, what’s left?”
Whatever your company has built in organic search: pages that rank, content that AI tools cite, and a domain with a track record. That is why PHN recommends SEO alongside paid media, not in place of it.
