In short
What does PHN’s WordPress maintenance cover?
- Updates without surprises: core, theme, and plugins tested on a copy of the site before they go live.
- Backup and restore: a daily copy stored off the server, with restores tested.
- Security and monitoring: scans, fixes, and an immediate alert when the site goes down or slows down.
- One accountable person: the person who handles your site knows it, documents what was done, and sends a monthly report.
PHN’s WordPress maintenance is a monthly service for established companies that depend on a WordPress website: updates tested on a staging site, daily backups with verified restores, security scans, uptime and speed monitoring, and error fixes, with a monthly report and one named person in charge.
The problem
Why does a large company’s WordPress site become a problem?
Because one agency built it, another one adjusted it, three different providers added plugins, and today no one knows what can be updated without breaking something. The site works until the day an outdated plugin opens the door to a hack, an automatic update takes down the contact form, or the hosting company changes the PHP version and the home page disappears.
The symptom shows up in sales before it shows up in IT: inquiries that never arrive, a slow page the buyer abandons, a browser warning that the site is not secure. For a company with dozens of pages, a members-only area, a CRM integration, or an online store, each of these problems costs meetings, proposals, and reputation.
PHN has maintained WordPress sites since 2018, both the sites it builds and the ones it takes over from other agencies. The service grew out of that second situation: established companies that needed someone to take over the site, document what was there, and be there when something broke.
Deliverables
What comes with PHN’s WordPress maintenance?
Inventory and documentation
A review of the theme, plugins, integrations, logins, and versions. What isn’t used comes out; what is critical gets documented.
Updates on a staging site
Core, theme, and plugins updated on a copy of the site, checked page by page, and only then published, in an agreed time window.
Daily off-server backups
Automatic copies of the files and the database, stored outside the hosting account, with restores tested regularly.
Security
Scans for vulnerabilities and changed files, access rules, reviewed passwords and permissions, and SSL certificate monitoring.
Speed and stability
Caching, images, the database, and Google’s page experience metrics (Core Web Vitals), tracked month by month.
Monitoring and reporting
An immediate alert when the site goes down or slows down, a fix for whatever broke, and a monthly report of everything that was done.
Fit
Who is WordPress maintenance right for?
Established companies with a sales team and a website that brings in inquiries every day: manufacturers, accounting and law firms with dozens of pages, schools, trucking companies, IT firms, construction companies, and B2B service companies with a form connected to their CRM. The more the website matters to sales, the more maintenance matters.
It’s not the right fit for a five-page site that hardly ever changes, or for a high-volume online store, which needs its own e-commerce operation.
If PHN built the site, maintenance starts with everything already documented. If the site comes from another agency, the first month is an inventory: PHN takes stock of what exists, flags what is a risk, and proposes what to fix, without rebuilding the site to justify the contract. If you also want to be found on Google and in AI answers, the well-kept site becomes the foundation for SEO and Google Ads management, in the order your consulting plan sets.
Process
How does maintenance work, from the inventory to the report?
WordPress review
Versions, plugins, theme, hosting, existing backups, security, and speed, with a list of what is a risk today.
Inventory and cleanup
What isn’t used comes out, logins are reviewed and put in your company’s name, and everything is documented.
Monthly routine
Updates on staging, verified backups, a security scan, and a speed review, in an agreed time window.
Continuous monitoring
Uptime and response time are tracked, with an alert and a fix when something looks wrong.
Report and decisions
Every month, your company gets a report on what was done, what was found, and what PHN recommends for the month ahead.
